  • Canine vaccines and vaccination play an important role in disease prevention and can save lives in young puppies. The purpose of vaccination is to stimulate the body to produce antibodies proteins made by specialized white blood cells and memoru cells, so that if they encounter the disease again, his system will be primed and ready to defend against it.   However, it is also a fact that vaccines can cause very serious side effects. So it is important for you to understand what vaccines can do and whether it is to vaccinate yearly. Examples of acute diseases are distemper, hepiatitis, rabies, and parvovirus. On the other hand, chronic disease are usally caused by the immune system malfunctioning. Canine vaccination put a lot stress on the dogs immune system. And holistic veterinarians have reach the conclusion that vaccinations cannot only cause immediate side effects, but contribute to long term chronic heath problem. Such as skin allergies, arthritis, thyroid disease, ear and respiratory infections. In fact rabies can cause cancer at the site of the injection. Vaccinations do not magically lose their effectiveness 366 days after the last shot. Studies show that vaccines for parvovirus and distemper provide good long term protection up to 8 to 10 years. Boosters shots do not increase a dogs immunity, but they increase their risk of adverse reactions. There are no benefits and many risks to revaccinating for diseases your dog is already immune to. So if you want to play it safe, there is a blood test(titer)to dertermine the dogs anitbody levels for parvo. Distemper remain high enough to resist infection, even with low titer most dogs retain enough immunity to resist infection. Parvo and distemper are almost exclusively diseases affecting young puppies,so while puppies definitely need the protection of vaccines, adults do not.
